Where to Stay in Sacramento for a Wedding Weekend
How to house a wedding party or out-of-town guests in Sacramento: renting a large home, what to check before booking, and planning the weekend.

- A large rental home keeps the wedding party together for getting ready, meals and the morning after.
- Book early: spring and fall are busy wedding seasons in the Sacramento area.
- Check the house rules for guest limits and events before you book.
- Pick a home within a short drive of the venue so the day runs on time.
Sacramento and the surrounding area host a lot of weddings, from vineyard venues in the foothills to downtown halls and gardens. If you are organizing lodging for the wedding party or a group of out-of-town guests, a large rental home is often the simplest and most enjoyable answer. Here is how to plan it.
Why a house works for a wedding party
A wedding weekend is full of moments that need a shared space: getting ready together, a rehearsal dinner afterparty, a slow breakfast the morning after. In a hotel, those happen in a crowded room or a lobby. In a house, there is a living room for photos, a kitchen for coffee at 6am and enough bathrooms for hair and makeup to run in parallel.
It is also simpler for the people organizing. One booking, one address and one set of check-in instructions is far easier than managing a hotel block.
What to check before you book
- Distance to the venue. Map the drive at the time of day you'll travel. Fifteen to thirty minutes is comfortable.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms. Count how many people need a real bed, and how many bathrooms you need on the wedding morning.
- House rules. Most homes set a maximum number of overnight guests and do not allow events. Read the rules on the booking page and ask us if anything is unclear.
- Parking. Wedding weekends mean many cars. Check how many the driveway takes.
- Check-in and check-out times. Ask about flexibility if the wedding is on a Sunday.
Where to look in the Sacramento area
Our homes in Sacramento and Roseville include the seven-bedroom Sacramento House, which suits a full wedding party, and the five-bedroom Roseville House for a smaller group or a second house for family. For weddings in the East Bay or Napa direction, the Antioch House is another option.
Planning the weekend
- Friday: arrive, settle in and have a simple dinner at the house after the rehearsal.
- Saturday: get ready together, take photos at the house and travel to the venue as a group.
- Sunday: a big breakfast before people head home. This is often everyone's favorite part.
If the couple is staying elsewhere on the wedding night, plan who is sleeping where ahead of time so nobody is sorting out rooms after the reception.
Assign one person to be the point of contact with us. It keeps messages clear and avoids repeated questions.
Guests coming from out of town
If many guests are flying in, Sacramento International Airport is the closest. Share the house address, parking notes and arrival plan in one message well before the weekend. Our group getaways page has more ideas for celebration trips, and our Sacramento guide suggests things for guests to do on a free afternoon.
Frequently asked questions
Can we hold the wedding at a vacation rental?
Most vacation rentals are for lodging rather than events. Check the house rules and ask us before booking if you plan any gathering beyond the overnight group.
How far ahead should we book for a wedding weekend?
As early as you can once the date is set. Large homes are limited and spring and fall weekends book first.
Is a rental cheaper than a hotel block?
Often, for a wedding party of ten or more. One home with several bedrooms usually costs less per person than the same number of hotel rooms, and you get a kitchen and shared space.
