Quick answer

The 2027 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs March 2 to 21, 2027, according to the rodeo's official site. For a group, the plan is simple: pick one concert night, buy seats together early, park at a satellite lot or ride METRORail, and stay in one large house where everyone can sleep in after a late night.

Key takeaways

  • The rodeo's official site lists the 2027 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for March 2 to 21, 2027, with the World's Championship Bar-B-Que on February 25 to 27.
  • NRG Stadium and NRG Park took back the Reliant name in August 2026, so tickets and signs now say Reliant Stadium and Reliant Park.
  • A Rodeo and Concert ticket covers the stadium show and the grounds; a Grounds ticket covers the livestock shows, carnival and food but not the stadium.
  • Pick one concert night for the whole group, buy seats together, and plan a separate daytime visit for the grounds and carnival.
  • A satellite lot or METRORail saves a group the walk and the traffic; the rodeo's lots are cashless, so set up one card per car.

The rodeo in one paragraph

RodeoHouston is a three-week run of livestock shows, a carnival, shopping, food and a nightly rodeo followed by a concert in the stadium. It takes place at the stadium complex south of downtown that most people still call NRG Park. NRG Energy announced in April 2026 that the stadium and park would go back to their original name in August 2026, so your tickets and the signs now say Reliant Stadium and Reliant Park. Same place, new old name.

The season opens with the World's Championship Bar-B-Que, which the rodeo lists for February 25 to 27, 2027. The cook-off is a separate event and a good reason to arrive early if your group likes barbecue.

Which tickets to buy

A group needs to decide two things: which night, and which kind of ticket. The rodeo sells three main types.

TicketWhat it coversBest for
Rodeo and ConcertThe stadium for that night's rodeo and concert, plus the park, arena and centerThe main night out
GroundsThe park and its public activities: livestock and horse shows, shopping, food, the carnival. Not the stadiumA daytime visit, kids, anyone not going to the concert
SeasonEvery day of the run, through AXSLocals and diehards, rarely a visiting group

Listed Rodeo and Concert prices on the ticket page, fees included:

SeatListed price
Upper Level$35 to $45
Loge Level$54
Field Level$71
Club Level (sidelines)$81
Action Seats$185

Premium options such as Chute Seats, Stage Left and suites cost far more. Prices can vary by night and change before sale, so check the current price on their site before you set the group budget.

How to buy as a group:

  1. Agree on the night first. The concert changes every night, and the lineup drives demand. Vote in the group chat as soon as the lineup is out.
  2. Have one person buy. Seats bought in one order sit together. Collect money first, or use a cost-splitting app so the buyer is not left short.
  3. Buy the upper level for a big group. It is the easiest way to keep twelve people in one row or two at a price most people can live with.
  4. Use the official site or AXS. The rodeo links to AXS for its sales. Resale sites already list 2027 dates, and those are not official.
  5. Set up mobile tickets before the day. The rodeo has a mobile ticket guide and app. Make sure everyone has their ticket on their own phone so the group can enter in pieces if it has to.

Getting there and parking

The best way for a group to reach the rodeo is a satellite lot with a shuttle or METRORail, not the main lots. The rodeo's parking page says every one of its lots is cashless, so make sure each driver has a card that works for contactless payment.

The page lists these options. It does not say which year the prices apply to, so treat them as a guide and check again in February.

OptionListed costHow it works
Main lots next to the park (Yellow, 610, Blue)$25 per carWalk in or take a tram; fill early on weekends
West Loop and Monroe satellite lotsFree parking; $7 round-trip shuttle for ages 4 and upShuttle to the park; free for ages 3 and under
Fannin South (run by METRO)$25 per carFree METRORail passes for everyone in the car
OST lot$25 per carFree shuttle, or METRORail for $2.50 round trip
Rideshare or taxiVariesPickup at Yellow Lot 35

Times matter for a late night. The parking page says the last shuttle from the satellite lots to the park leaves at 9 p.m., and return buses run until 1 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Fannin South follows the METRORail schedule instead.

A few more details from the rodeo's page:

  • Public drop-off is at Gate 9 off Kirby Drive, and Kirby closes at 9 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on weekends.
  • Limos and private buses use the Green Lot at Gate 13 off Lantern Point, with limited space on a first-come basis. A rented van or minibus for the group works well here.
  • The main ADA spaces are in the Blue Lot and the Yellow Lot, first-come, with a valid placard.

For train service, the METRORail Red Line runs through downtown and the Museum District to the stadium complex. Our guide to staying in Houston for a game or event covers the train and game-day timing in more detail.

Plan two visits, not one

The grounds and the concert night are two different outings, and trying to do both in one go wears out a group. Most groups do better splitting them.

The grounds day. Come in the late morning or early afternoon on a Grounds ticket. See the livestock and horse shows, walk the shopping halls, eat your way around the food stands and let the kids ride the carnival. The rodeo lists carnival tickets at $1.25 each at the carnival, or a FastPass at $30 per rider. Set a carnival budget per child before you arrive.

The concert night. Eat a big meal at the house first, arrive before the rodeo starts, and stay for the concert. Expect a long evening: the rodeo, the concert and the walk out together take hours.

What to wear and bring. Boots and a hat are part of the fun, but the grounds are big and most of the day is on foot, so pick boots you can walk in. Check the rodeo's bag rules before anyone packs. March weather in Houston can swing from cool to warm in a day, so bring a layer for the evening.

Where a group should stay

A group of ten to sixteen does best in one large house a drive or train ride away, not in several hotel rooms near the stadium. Rodeo season is one of the busiest times of year for Houston lodging, and the closest hotels price for it.

Our five-bedroom Houston House sleeps up to 16, with six queen beds, three sofa beds, a game room, a hot tub, a covered patio and a BBQ grill for the night before. See all of our Houston homes and the dates on what's on in Houston.

When you book directly, our Check-in Promise applies: "If your group can't get into the home at check-in and we can't get you in within one hour of your call, we refund your first night." Pets are welcome too, up to 3 with a $100 pet fee per stay, and service animals are free.

Make the most of the other days

The rodeo takes one or two days of a long weekend, so plan the rest around the house and the city. Good options for a group:

  • Space Center Houston for a full day of rockets and the tram tour. See our Space Center Houston group visit guide.
  • The Museum District and Hermann Park, on the same Red Line that serves the rodeo.
  • Galveston for a beach day, about an hour south.
  • A cookout at the house with leftovers from the barbecue stands.

The bottom line

RodeoHouston 2027 runs March 2 to 21 at the newly renamed Reliant Park. Book one large house now, pick a single concert night as a group, buy the seats in one order, and give the grounds and carnival their own day. Park at a satellite lot or take METRORail, plan for a late finish, and let the house be where the group eats, regroups and sleeps in the next morning.
